Captain's Report - T20 Match 3 vs TLCC

After the washed out double header last weekend, I was excited to get on the field and register our first victory of the season. Playing against TLCC who had lost some of their key players, it was important for us to not be complacent.

Losing the toss (that's 2 in a row now), TLCC put us in to bat on a damp pitch and a wet outfield. We lost Dipen early to a suicidal run. Mayur followed soon thereafter. What followed next was an exhibition of how to pace an innings. Vicky continued from where he left off last weekend with his usual flamboyance. While Aditya was getting his eye in. scoring was on at around 6-7 an over. Once the platform was built, we saw a series of magnificent sixes from Aditya and excellent finish by Amar. We managed a healthy score of 178/5. More than 110 runs scored in the last 10!

Amar and Neel started miserly at the beginning. We continued to pick wickets at regular intervals. Each and every bowler came in and did their job. Prashant broke the spine of their batting, getting Abu and Kamran in 1 over, effectively ending any hopes of a fight. Damu chipped in with 2 good wickets as well. All in all it was a professional performance, one I hope to see many times in upcoming games.

There is still much to improve. We missed at least 4 chances on the field. And gave away 2-3 runs extra due to our carelessness. While it may not seem a lot, in big games, it is the difference between winning and losing. Let's continue to improve in the upcoming games.

I am equally thrilled to see so much participation in the games. It has not been easy to pick only 11 players. If any one has any questions about their role in the team, please reach out to me or Prashant. Be patient, it is a long season ahead, and we will have enough game time for everyone.

Play to win!!
